31 of 365 Cactus...

Today we went for a little ride on the mountain bikes.  I brought my camera but didn't really do much shooting. This is one of the shots.

 

I'm not real happy with this one.  It's not that exciting.  Next time I think a hike is in order to get the good ones.  Till tomorrow.

30 of 365 - Shocked...

Combined hobbies!  How much better can it get?  The creativity is running a little low again.  Work, eat, movie, and then a picture...Hard to squeeze it all in!

I think that this one is appropriately titled and in just under the wire!  Till tomorrow...

28 of 365 - Light Painting

I found a couple of those glow in the dark necklaces in the little guys room when I came home tonight.  The first thing I thought of was lets do some light painting.  To make this happen...I held the shutter open for about 10 seconds while spinning these two necklaces around my finger while the camera is exposing. Here is the result.

I wasn't really happy with the way they came out.  The original looks like fire but was still kind of boring.  So I played with the colors a little bit in post processing.

This is inverting the colors.

 The technique is off a bit on these...but I think I got the creativity side. I think I had more fun playing with the picture in GIMP than actually shooting it. Which is your favorite?  Till tomorrow....

27 of 365 - Bullets

I was out and about today and brought my camera with me as usual.  It was kind of a cloudy overcast day so the light was tough.  A sprinkle here and there was making it difficult to make anything happen.  I was left to shoot something at the house.

When I first started looking at this picture on the PC...I really didn't like it at all.  I thought about trying something else to shoot...Then I tried B&W and the picture became interesting to me.  Till tomorrow...

I went walking around today and found this valve that I liked.  Hope you do too!

Ahhh...All caught up.  I'll have to see what I can find for tomorrow.  Till tomorrow....

25 of 365 - The :Lone Lime...

With all of the rain we have had...We in turn have had a lot of water lying around.  Most of it has moved on and made everything a bit of a mess.  In this picture, most of the ground is colorless due to the layer of mud.  I managed to come across a lime sitting on the ground within this mess. 

I guess this is natural color selection.  The green caught my eye and I couldn't pass it up.

24 of 365 Big Snow In A Small Town

Down town was definitely overrun by snow. They were using front end loaders to load dump trucks to haul it away. The snow was 2 to 4 feet deep in some places.

Apparently this is what happens when you get caught on your bike in a snow storm.

Here's a bonus picture from the trip. I would hate to be around when this thaws out!

 

I miss the snow to an extent.  I love the fact that I can visit it once and a while and don't have to actually live in it.  

23 of 365 - Snow Covered...

Sorry...I haven't quit yet!  We went on a little run to Flagstaff for a couple of days and I didn't bring my laptop.  Now I have a little making up to do.  I took the pictures...Just didn't get to post them.

This was our first stop in Flagstaff.  There was some much snow.  The snow was beautiful in the way it covered the trees.

22 of 365 - Self Portrait

Self portraits.  I want to do more of these.  The other two in the house are a little camera shy so I have to do portraits of myself.  This one was cheating though!

I like the reflection of the reflection.  Till tomorrow...

21 of 365 - Hit the Brakes!

Brakes! Gotta have 'em! I was spinning the rear wheel and getting the blur of the movement and that's what I was going for.  I used my flash on low power and flashed it manually while the shutter was open...That gave me the one spot where the rotor looks like it stopped. 

I want to find other things to use this technique on.  I have the ability to have my flash work like a strobe light...That might be interesting.  Till tomorrow...

20 of 365 - The 40 Watt Monster

I've been wanting to try this for a while.  I finally remembered to pick up a bulb at the store.  After looking at the picture...I looked like a monster at the bottom with some sort of halo.  That's what I see anyway.

I also realized that it's rough looking at a light bulb that long.  I still see spots.  Till tomorrow...

19 of 365 - Homework...

OK...This isn't the best picture, but I couldn't pass it up.  Payton had to get up early this morning and it looks like it took a toll.  He was fighting me tooth and nail to get through his homework.  I told him to take some time and think about what he needed to do...This is what happened.

I wish I would have known how much time I had before he woke up.  I wish I would have got rid of the chair and some of the junk in the background.  Cleaned it up a bit.  Till tomorrow....

I don't want to see this very often in my life.  It was uncomfortable even under controlled conditions. 

This made me want to go out and shoot.  It's been raining here so it might have to wait.  Till tomorrow...

17 of 365 - Amplified

I managed to get outside today...I had big plans but they didn't pan out.  I have the next couple days off...So we'll see what happens.

This is my guitar amplifier.  The presence is what stood out to me.  I didn't quite get it to be the subject of the photo like I wanted.  Till tomorrow....

16 of 365 - Loss of a loved one....

I tried to get a little more creative tonight.  I promise they will get better.  You know how fast skittles melt in your hand? Fast! 

Only one skittle was harmed during the making of this picture!  Till tomorrow...

15 of 365 - Hard Drve

Speaking of hard...this is getting harder than I thought.  I got home at 7:30 tonight so it made it a little hard to get something together. So the 365 suffers. Oh well...

This is what the inside of a 210MB hard drive looks like...Yes I said mega byte.  When I had this drive in '92, I never thought I would need anything bigger. Now my phone has 32GB! Till tomorrow...

14 of 365 - Gimbal

I was kind of lazy on this one.  I'm kind of tired today and this one suffered for it. Yesterday's will be hard to top.

13 of 365= Orchid

I drove around today to try to find something to photograph and didn't have very much luck. I'm not sure why that is.  Must not be looking hard enough.  Paige bought an orchid today on her way home from work....Perfect.

I did this one in my home made light box with a black background. With the colors of the flower...I didn't want them competing with anything. The dark background made them pop out.  Till tomorrow....  

12 of 365 - While the kids are away...

I had some fun with this one.  I have played around with this before.  It's pretty fun.  I tried a few different backgrounds and poses...This one was the most fun.

I have a $25 DIY light box set up in my garage that is providing endless amounts of fun. Till tomorrow...

11 of 365 - Salt River Landscape

Finally had a chance to get outside.  I miss getting out there.  Cool stuff happens at sunrise and sunset.  Being there to watch it happen is even cooler.

I like the colors nothing really out of the ordinary as far as the subject, but hopefully this will help warm up a few of the east coasters watching. Till tomorrow....

I seem to be in the middle of a creative funk.  I don't feel like anything looks exciting.  I seem to be having trouble finding think to shoot or make them interesting.

I think this is one of my favorites so far.  I like the composition on this one. I have to admit that this one is a little closer to my heart than the others.

I think this will really talk to those that are close to me.  We miss you Ol' buddy. Till tomorrow...

I had a lot of hope for this one and it didn't quite work out.  I was hoping for a different look.

I think this one speaks for itself.  I'm not really happy with the way the colors came out on this one.  I didn't have the white balance quite right.  I will have to dig in to it deeper.

By the way...Yesterday's picture is the inside of my washing machine.  I like the way that one came out...Till tomorrow.....

I want to see if any one can guess what this is.  Normally boring and most of us really don't want to have anything to do with it....I thought this was an interesting twist.

I liked this one.  I can see more of this in the future. Till tomorrow.....

5 of 365 - Bloom...

I had a couple pics for this one today.  The family picked this one.  This is from the back yard.  Yes...We do have flowers that bloom in AZ this time of year. for those of you blanketed in snow.

I had to use the flash to bring this on out a bit.  The sun was over powering the flower and the front was dark...so I added a little light.  I was also trying to get just the flower in focus with everything else blurred.  Picasa also seems to be shifting the colors a touch to the yellow side. Till tomorrow....

4 of 365 - Burnt

Day number 4.  This one was fun. i really like how the circles and the corner play off of each other as well as the dark colors with the small highlights.

It was hard to get any decent lighting with out washing things out or getting a major glare.

Ended up pulling it off by firing my flash against the wall behind me to get the light that I needed.  Let me know what you think. 

I am going to track my shutter releases on my camera.  It will be interesting how may pictures I end up taking during the project.

3 of 365 - Turn It Up!

Here's number 3.  This is going to be harder than I thought.  I'm having trouble finding things to photograph...I just started!

This is one of my guitar.  This is the most action it has seen for a while.  I wanted to get the knob to pop out at you.  Hopefully I succeeded.

i wanted everything else to be blurry with the knob grabbing your attention.

I'm not sure about this one.  The idea seemed to work out...The colors didn't quite work out.

I tried a few different ways and this one seemed the most interesting.  It was kind of a bitch setting up all those o-rings.  I might have to try this one again sometime.   Till tomorrow.....

A Strive For 365 - 1 of 365

Here is my first photo for my try at a 365.  My attempt is to take one good picture a day and upload to my blog.  Stay tuned.  I will do my best to keep this going.  Stay tuned and watch the progress.

This is from my iPhone.  I figured the best way to start off is with a picture of my camera that has been newly "gripped", compliments of Santa Clause!  I love how you can see the apple in the lens.
